The complex of buildings at the Rusan Mosque on the village square was built , modified and rebuilt over several Centuries. The earliest foundations were of a Byzantine church called gjin Atesi. The building transformation to a 17th Century mosque included the intricate architectural detailing changing the square base into a large, hexagonal , domed cupola like structure.The resulting roof system in complex and interesting including flying buttresses at the upper level one period includedthe site’s use as Bektashi tekke and one of the sect’s signature hexagonal out buildings contains the remains of several Bektashi Babbas.
